Today I wanted to talk about the photography studio hours. I know some photographers run a different schedule than mine. And that’s okay. Honestly, you have to do what works best for you. I’m going to explain why the photography studio hours are set. I hope this may give you more understanding into why the studio is open Monday through Friday from 9AM to 4PM.
First off, thank you, thank you, thank you to my wonderful clients who make the photography studio hours work. Who rearrange their schedules and, or take time off of work to give me the privilege of photographing your family. Seriously, y’all are the best. You make my dream job a reality.
So why the set photography studio hours you ask?
Back when I first started I took any kind of photography gig I could get my hands on. I was hungry to learn and for more experience, as are most starting photographers. And that’s absolutely great for learning and building a business.
As time went on, I got busier, and the stress on my family became real. Outdoor sessions often occur at the end of the day when the light is beautiful, golden and soft. This is also when my family is eating dinner and our kids are getting ready for bed time. Aka, family time.
Now that my girls are a little older, they are both in school full time. You see, weekends and evenings are my only time I get to spend with them. It is precious time that I will not get back. Scheduling an hour session in the evening may not seem like a big deal, but by the time I pack up the car, leave early to set up, shoot the session, clean up, and drive home, that evening is gone.
My girls, just like your children, are only little once. I want to spend as much time with them as I can, be there to help them with homework, take them to their activities, and watch their sports games. I want to be a present mom, just like I am positive you want to be a present parent.
I made the resolution this year to not work on weekends or evenings and stick the the photography studio hours completely. Just in the last few weeks of only working during the weekday hours, I have noticed how energized and focused I feel when I am working. The rest and break that I now get on the weekends makes me a better photographer. I no longer feel like I’m working endlessly with a few hours or breaks here and there. In short, I’m more inspired and am able to better serve you.
I also have some exciting news to share with you in the coming weeks. Family sessions and outdoor sessions will be back in a big kind of way, so stay tuned!
Thank you for supporting my photography studio. I hope this blog post gave you some insight. If you are interested in scheduling a session, you may do so here.
